Proper timing and preparation is critical to the success of SWPPP compliance efforts. Our systematic process for project startup includes:

  • Determine how the project site fits into the surrounding topography, how the area to be disturbed fits on the property and what problems may have to be dealt with along the way.
  • Gather all pertinent information required to develop the project SWPPP documentation far enough in advance to insure that it is complete and in place, along with signage, postings and BMPs, prior to commencement of construction.
  • We produce the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, developed by a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), being careful to incorporate all local additions to the regulatory requirements.
  • We will insure that all SWPPP controls indicated on the project drawings are appropriate, necessary and functional. The end result is a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan that makes sense and one that protects the interests of project owner and contractor/operator, as well as the environment.
  • Make the proper written notification to the MS4 in whose jurisdiction the site is located, prior to construction (and do so again when the project is complete).
  • Set up the project SWPPP in a site binder and record keeping system.
  • Install purpose-specific SWPPP posting signage at the entrance to the site.
  • Incorporate a Spill Prevention, Hazardous Products Practices and Spill Response Plan within the SWPPP.
  • Provide SWPPP information and training for your Sub-Contractor personnel at your Pre-Construction meeting.
